The Kitchens hosted their 5th Annual Chili Cook-Off Event on February 22, 2024. With one step into the Kitchens, we were transported back to a good old-fashioned Cook-Out! This event featured 10 different homemade chilis in the cook-off competition created by our very own UCS Chefs. Each one brought a unique taste to the table which made voting for a favorite super difficult. It was such a fun way to build a relationship between the chefs and students by making it such an inclusive experience, and it had over 500 attendees!

All the chilis were laid out with numbers on a long table alongside premade trays that were handed out with 10 individual cups on number slots to fill with chili and keep organized so you knew which one was which. At the end of your meal, you had the opportunity to vote on your favorite chili by placing your token in your favorite chili's box! Over 250 people voted, and awarded Michael Kinton's 'Blazing Saddles' first place! According to the A&F Times, "Michael intends to give the trophy to his Dad who created the chili recipe over 20 years ago and Michael was lucky enough to grow up enjoying it at home." Second place went to Daniel White's 'Silent But Deadly' Chili, and third place went to Saul Razo Aguilar for his 'King Pig' Chili.

It was a well-done event that had you looking forward to next year's the moment you walked out.
